Most provinces have specific definitions of Workplace Violence & Harassment, however a few general examples are:
Most provinces have developed their own WVH regulations.
These province-specific legislations more clearly define an employer's legal responsibilities when it comes to WVH.
For those provinces that have not yet developed specific WVH regulations, they still fall under a general duty clause in the provincial regulations.
Also Workplace Violence and Harassment regulations can be found in other federal and provincial regulations, employment standards, workers compensation and the human rights act.

General training (such as this course) will cover the general legislation, how to identify, deal with, resolve and report WVH, as well as strategies to prevent violence and harassment in the workplace.
Yes, all workplaces in Ontario need to have a Workplace Violence and Harassment training program which includes a 'written and posted policy' and 'training' for every employee (such as YOW Canada's online course).
The only exception is for workplaces with 5 or fewer 'regular employees': In this case all employees still require WVH training but the 'WVH policy' may be delivered verbally (no need to have the policy written and posted).
For more details on the Ontario specific regulations please view the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
General training must be given to every employee.
Workplace Violence & Harassment should be repeated when there are significant changes to the policy or program or when circumstances indicate training should be repeated such as policy or procedures are not being followed.
Consult with your provincial government's labour legislation, your industry's provincial safety association or Worker's Compensation Board for details on when re-certification is required.

YOW Canada's WVH course is not intended or designed for trainers and we do not recommend that it be used to train a trainer. In order to reap the full benefits of this course we recommend that each trainee complete a WVH course themselves. This also ensures that each employee receives a WVH certificate.
The “employer” signature should be signed by the direct supervisor of the employee. The “employee” signature should be signed by the actual trainee. If you are self-employed you must sign as both the “employee” and the “employer”.
The onus is on the employer to ensure that his or her staff is adequately trained.
YOW Canada's Workplace Violence & Harassment Course is one method of training.
Both general and site-specific training are required.
YOW's Workplace Violence & Harassment Course is general training that covers the legislation, how to recognize Workplace Violence & Harassment and how to address it.
Practical site specific training may also be required to cover the particular workplace and the specific policy and procedures.
